Hi, I’m Tamera! I’m a birth and postpartum doula, healthcare professional, and proud boy mom of two. I’m naturally a nurturer, but I’m also the person who will make you laugh when you need it, remind you to eat, tell you to go take the shower, and make sure you know you don’t have to have everything figured out.
I’ve spent more than ten years working in healthcare, with experience in pediatrics, NICU/PICU, adult ICU and trauma, surgery, and home care. So, hospitals don’t intimidate me, and neither do the unpredictable moments that can come with birth and babies. But becoming a doula showed me a different side of care, sometimes what someone needs most isn’t another person focused on the medical side. They need someone focused on them.
That’s who I want to be in your birth space.
I’m calm when things get intense, hands-on when you need me, and I’ll absolutely be your hype woman when you’re convinced you can’t do one more contraction. I love helping with positioning and comfort measures, talking through your options, supporting your partner, protecting the energy in the room, and reminding you that this is still your birth. Whether you want an unmedicated birth, an epidural, a planned C-section, or you’re simply going into it thinking, “We’re going to see what happens,” there’s no judgment over here.
And once baby is here? I’m still your girl.
Postpartum support might mean I’m snuggling baby at 3 a.m. so you can finally sleep, helping with feeding, washing bottles, answering the random newborn question you were definitely about to Google, or simply sitting with you while you process everything that just happened. I’m there to make those early days feel less overwhelming and remind you that taking care of yourself is part of taking care of your baby too.
Being a mom myself has shaped the way I support others. I know how easy it is for everyone to ask about the baby while forgetting to ask, “How are YOU doing?” I don’t forget.
Outside of doula life, I’m usually with my two boys, most likely somewhere near a basketball court, cooking something good, getting a workout in, planning my next trip, or finding a reason to laugh. I’m big on family, good conversation, and making people feel comfortable enough to be themselves around me.
At the end of the day, I’m not coming into your space to tell you how to have your baby or how to parent. I’m coming in to support you, educate you, encourage you, laugh with you, advocate alongside you, and remind you that you’re more capable than you probably realize.
